Job Description


General & Operational:

  • Incident investigation, RCA's.
  • Ensure that all equipment and tools are well maintained and in good working condition.
  • Perform daily checks and inspections on vehicles and premises in general and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Maintain emergency plans to ensure timeous response to emergency conditions.
  • Assist the Group SHEQ Manager in progression towards reducing carbon emissions, pollution, contamination and other relevant environmental concerns.
  • Assist the SHEQ Manager to oversee the diesel procedure and ensure compliance to the diesel system and instructions.
  • Assist with SQAS system compliance and maintenance.
  • Assist in ensuring that employees are trained on work instructions, procedures, changes, etc. and ensuring that training registers are completed, filed and sent to HR.
  • Ensure that toolbox talks are conducted weekly with Drivers as well as office staff.
  • Conduct full function of incident investigation, evidence gathering and initiate disciplinary action in conjunction with HR.
Compliance & Reporting:
  • Determine gaps in terms of health and safety compliance matters and shortfalls.
  • Determine corrective actions in terms of gaps and shortfalls.
  • Implement corrective actions in terms of the above.
  • Follow up on deviations with regards to health and safety matters in order to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure health and safety statistical and occurrence reports are compiled and sent to SHEQ Manager weekly and monthly.
  • Ensure incidents reports are compiled that should be reported to the Department of Labour as stipulated under section 24 of the OHS Act.
  • Ensure that all injuries on duty are responded to with the necessary urgency.
  • Ensure that injuries are properly reported, followed up and finalised.
  • Ensure effective, timeous and constant communication and follow up with the relevant governmental departments i.e. Compensation fund, Labour, etc.
  • Ensure workplace complies in terms of legal requirement of first aid and firefighting training.
  • Ensure that frequent drug tests are conducted throughout the workforce, in conjunction with HR.
Systems & Administration:
  • Ensure that all systems are accurately updated daily.
  • Assist with implementing and achieving ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001 implementation and accreditation.
  • Performing data capturing and maintenance of document control system in order to comply with ISO 14001 standards, and OHSAS 45001 standards
  • Ensure that the Incident register is updated and correctly allocated.
  • Ensure effective follow up on incident resolutions.
  • Ensure that an effective SHEQ filing system is implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure that Safety files are compiled and kept updated.
  • Any ad-hoc tasks as instructed.
Minimum Requirement and Attributes: Grade 12 Relevant certification and registrations xe2x80x93 advantageous Valid Driverxe2x80x99s Licence xe2x80x93 essential Own reliable transport xe2x80x93 essential Excellent time management skills Analytical reasoning Experience in Transport industry - essential Persistence Ability to meet deadlines Ability to implement and maintain policies and procedures Job Types: Permanent, Full-time Experience:
