Summary
To ensure the organisation's adherence to OHS legal requirements, to foster an positive Health and Safety culture amongst employees and to establish and maintain superior hygiene standards in the packhouse.
Description
Operations & Safety (SHE):

• Develop, review, and implement OHS and hygiene procedures.
• Identify and control safety hazards; promote a safety-first culture.
• Conduct regular safety training and toolbox talks.
• Perform routine hygiene and safety inspections and audits (daily to annually).
• Manage PPE: stock control, distribution, maintenance.
• Maintain readiness for internal/external audits (MSHEQ, labour).
• Investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are followed up.
• Chair monthly SHE meetings; review findings and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure contractor compliance and oversee work quality through procedures and checks.

Quality & Compliance:

• Raise and manage non-conformances; ensure follow-up and validation.
• Assist with competency assessments and ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety standards.
• Communication & Reporting:
• Submit monthly SHE reports and coordinate audits.
• Maintain clear communication across departments.

HR & Training:

• Train and assess staff on standards, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Conduct refresher training and regular feedback sessions.

General Duties:

• Support off-season operations and additional tasks as required by management.

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:

• Grade 12 and diploma in Safety/Risk Management (SAMTRAC or similar).
• Experience in Citrus/Agriculture/Food processing is a plus.

Key Competencies:

• Strong leadership, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Self-motivated, organised, and able to multitask under pressure.
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
