Job Summary JOB TITLE This Position - Senior Technician Reports to - Workshop Manager - Durban Date: 26 October 2023 Purpose of the Position: xe2x80xa2 To ensure the machine fleet is properly maintained and serviced in the field. Deliver the best rental experience by providing the customers with safe and productive access equipment and material handling as per company standards. xe2x80xa2 To carry out field repairs, maintenance and services on Eazi Access Machines and Platforms on client sites. xe2x80xa2 To ensure that equipment is delivered and proactively maintained in good working order, fully functional and free from any damage. xe2x80xa2 To maintain relevant equipment operationally by completing regular inspections and functional procedures as defined from time to time. Qualifications: xe2x80xa2 Grade 12 xe2x80xa2 Trade qualification as Millwright or Red Seal Qualified as a Technician. Experience: xe2x80xa2 6 years' experience Post Qualification - maintenance and repairs on Linde or Material Handling Equipment. xe2x80xa2 5 years' experience in technical field services, maintenance and repairs. xe2x80xa2 5 years supervisory experience Knowledge Requirements: xe2x80xa2 Relevant Technical product knowledge. xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of work of height machinery and equipment advantageous. xe2x80xa2 Industry specific knowledge i.e. mining, construction, light & heavy industrial. xe2x80xa2 OSHAS and safety industry regulations. xe2x80xa2 Mechanical, hydraulic, electric, and electronic tooling knowledge. xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of mechanical inspections, tools and analyzers. Key Performance Areas xe2x80xa2 Training and Technical Support. xe2x80xa2 Service planning, schedules, Breakdowns xe2x80xa2 PDI and Machine Maintenance xe2x80xa2 Stock takes and vehicle stock xe2x80xa2 Safety xe2x80xa2 Cost control AREA / TYPE Responsibilities Technical Support 1. Complete a full Functional test whilst training any appointed operator. 2. Provide technical guidelines for all technicians and users. 3. Ensure product training schedule is updated and staff attend training. 4. Services Planning 1. Daily planning for all field technicians in lieu of breakdowns, services, pdi's. 2. Plan start-up sites 3. Ensure technicians have correct stock for next day's services. 5. Follow up on daily activities with field technicians at end day Service Schedules 1. Review area allocations per Technician 2. Audit service sheet for accuracy 3. Check service schedule for technicians corresponds to main services sheet requirements. 4. Ensure snags identified are transposed to the register and allocated with services. Breakdowns 1. Ensure measures in place to monitor all breakdowns. 2. Identify repeat breakdowns in respect of Customers, Technicians and areas. 3. Implement corrective measures. 4. Enter all weekend breakdowns in log register and implement corrective action. 5. Compile trend analysis on breakdowns, utilizing the breakdown register. 6. Ensure benchmark on breakdowns are maintained. 7. Ensure benchmark response times are maintained. 8. As per escalation policy on complaints visit sites and resolve problems PDI, Maintenance and Repairs 1. Maintain equipment operational by completing regular inspections and functional procedures as defined from time to time and complete preventive maintenance tasks, correcting equipment deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, check and maintain mine spec requirements if required 2. Determine equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts and reporting as may be required 3. Keeps equipment available for use by monitoring and completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing components, parts, oil, water and upgrades when required and control corrosion. 4. Verify equipment performance by conducting predefined functional tests, adjusting controls and systems. 5. Keep record of completed jobs. Conform with MEWP standards and equipment requirements by ensuring up-to-date documentation are available upon request - services and safety stickers/decals, on-board documentation, documentation regarding engine services, hydraulic services, load test, load test inspections and mine specific documentation as well as site specific documentation. 6. Keep operational tools and spares for, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance and for calling-in repairs. 9. Standby and call-out as and when required Stock takes and Vehicle stock 1. Monthly vehicle stock-take all technicians vehicles. 2. Keep standard stock quantities in vehicles. 3. Place required stock orders through the Parts and Service coordinator Cost Control 1. Ensure Vehicle Fuel budget to actual is maintained and reviewed monthly. 2. Ensure Vehicle KM budget to actual is maintained and reviewed monthly. 3. Ensure Overtime budget to actual is maintained and overtime is reviewed monthly. Other 1. Conduct monthly meetings with all Technicians, discuss paperwork, breakdowns, services, pdi's, Van stock, overtime, deliverables, etc. Safety 1. Ensure all occupational health and safety standards are met. 2. Build a culture of safety. 3. Ensure that Technicians have the appropriate skills, training and licensing.
