A company in the Tourism Retail Service Industry, offering an array of cutting-edge solutions to businesses eager to elevate their retail operations is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer. Focused on personalized service and embracing innovative technology, the company's services cover every facet of tourism retail operations, ranging from engaging customer experiences to efficient loyalty program management and seamless point-of-sale and inventory control. This pivotal role involves bolstering and optimizing IT production and integration systems. This includes providing robust support and documentation to the user base and collaborating with various IT divisions to revolutionize the delivery of services, ensuring an exciting and efficient experience for both the business and clients.

Minimum Requirements:
Matric
Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
University degree or graduate qualification in a related discipline such as Information Technology (Advantage)
Relevant certifications such as ITIL Foundation
Relevant industry certifications (Advantage)
5+ years in system operations, including leadership roles
5+ years of experience in SQL
Extensive experience in application support, with a focus on Windows Server Environments
Data Warehousing experience is advantageous
Excellent communication skills
Accountability and a results-driven approach
Strong team player with adaptability
Quick evaluator of facts vs. ideas or theory
Analytical, methodical, and logical thinker

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide 2nd and 3rd Line Support for business systems
Maintain tickets within the incident lifecycle (timeously, effectively and efficiently)
Investigates data / system inconsistencies reported by users
Work closely with manager, developers, project teams and users to ensure a continuous, stable and efficient environment
Investigates data / system inconsistencies reported by users.
Provide 24 x 7 standby / support for the production environments
Identifying and initiating any tuning to be carried out to optimize and improve capacity or performance.
Acquires and applies knowledge of business processes, procedures, policies and practices.
Build and maintain system documentation:
Architecture overviews and diagrams
Integration and dependency mapping
Security policies and procedures
System policies and procedures
Data Protection and Retention, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan
End user documentation
End user training
Support team documentation
System monitoring and reporting
Capacity planning and management
Systems risk management
Manage and drive system incident, problem and change requests to resolution

Verifone Merchant App xe2x80x93 Third-party (Verifone) developed iOS payment App
JAMF JSS (MDM) xe2x80x93 Mobile Device Management servers managing the Apple iPad and Mac Mini devices
BI and Reporting Services xe2x80x93 Microsoft PowerBI, SSRS, SSIS and SSAS
Change and System Release Management:
Risk and impact assessment
Quality assurance:
Process adherence and documentation review
QA and UAT sign off validation
Participate in change and release Go / No Go decisions
Coordinate and drive improvements through post release and change evaluation
Vendor relationship management:
Vendor and third-party internal xe2x80x9cexpertxe2x80x9d. Act as the internal go-to person on all vendor and third-party
supplied and managed systems
Escalation point for system related vendor and third-party interaction
Participate in and contribute to vendor and third-party support and maintenance relationships
