Job Description

Consulting Engineers is recruiting a Senior Structural Draughtsperson for their office in Cape Town.

• Assist structural engineers with the preparation of drawings such as layout plans, sections, elevations, reinforcing details, reinforcing scheduling, etc.;
• Prepare drawings for preliminary, design, tender, construction and close out (record drawings) stages on a project;
• Develop conceptual layout work;
• Develop design details;
• Internal review of drawings prepared by junior draughtspersons to ensure company drawing standards are uniformly implemented in accordance with QMS procedures;
• Ensure coordination with engineers and other disciplines;
• Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models;
• Create drawing registers, capture drawings to drawing register and create drawing issue slips;
• Issue drawings to relevant authorities and professionals;
• Prepare Revit models;
• General drawing office admin if required.

Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Grade 12);
• At least 10 yearsxe2x80x99 verifiable reinforced concrete and structural steelwork draughting experience in the built environment;
• Experience in draughting bulk water, water or wastewater treatment works, stormwater management, retaining and bridge structures will be advantageous;
• The minimum qualification requirement is a Certificate of Completion in AutoDesk Revit Structures(essential);
• Efficient in the use of AutoCAD, Revit Structures and Microsoft Office Suite (essential);
• An N4/N5 Multi-Disciplinary Drawing Office Practice (MDDOP) National Certificate OR a Certificate of Competency from a Member College of The South African Institute of Draughting will be advantageous;
• Experience in the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, in particular BIM360 or ACC will be advantageous;
• Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to structural design;
• Understanding of the National Building Regulations and the requirements of the NHBRC will be advantageous;
• Must be an effective communicator, both written and verbal.
