About the roleTo supervise the Despatch shopfloor activities and ensure sufficient operation while performing the duties of a storeman that includes receiving goods, processing orders and dispatching.
Able to perform the functions of the Despatch Clerk and Despatch Manager in their absence.
Key responsibilitiesSupervises the shopfloor activities related to the Despatch Department to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
Ensures the efficient operation of the Despatch shopfloor when completing work planned by the Despatch Clerk.
Assists with the receipt and storage of finished goods received from Production Value Streams.
Assists with the picking and packing of orders.
Ensures that all shipments are packed to the correct specification.
Assists with the loading of haulier containers and trucks by means of a forklift or pallet truck.
Process sales order on SAP for despatching orders.
Responsible for the functioning of the Despatch Department in the absence of the Despatch Manager/ Despatch Clerk.
Responsible for performing SAP/system transactions & administrative duties as required by the Despatch Manager.
Responsible for completing Monthly Management monitoring reports.
Ensures that regular Gembas are completed and findigs are recorded and actioned.
Oversees regular forklift driver behaviour monitoring.
Complete Picking of transfer orders for extra materials / Finished goods.
Ensures the processing of returns from Value Streams to suitable location timeously and complete stock movement on SAP to ensure that the system remains accurate.
Performs movement of stock into locations daily. Transfer orders to be closed within 24hours.
Assists inventory controller / Despatch Clerk in investigating discrepancies prior to stock level adjustment if required.
Ensures complete cycle counts and performs re-checks for discrepancies.
Assist in the investigation of cycle count discrepancies.
Comply with all applicable SOPs.
Complies to all safety requirements and rules within the Finished Goods Warehouse.
Ensures that Finished Goods Warehouse is clean and tidy at all times.
Wears personal protective clothing & equipment as required.
Maintains & stores personal protective clothing & equipment correctly.
Comply with all relevant EHS standards.
Report and fill in near misses by using ZAP system.
Report incidents immediately and complete incident report timeously.
Assists daily in assessing condition of Turret Truck Machines, Forklifts and Pallet Trucks before use and complete required check list as specified in SOP.
Maintains and cleans equipment as specified in SOP.
Ensures that the batteries of Turret Truck Machines, Forklifts, Pallet Trucks and Walkie Stacker used are filled with water at the end of the shift and place the machines on charge.
Assists with forklift duties required e.g.: accessing equipment on mezzanine floor.
Move pallets of goods between Bulk Store and Dispatch as required.
Conduct all work activities in accordance with the Environment Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy QD-POL- 000823.
Maintain a secure and healthy workplace by efficiently managing risks, including psychosocial risks, to protect our people and the environment from physical or mental harm. Achieve this through our internal control framework, EHSW standards, local SOPs and actively working towards achieving our objectives and targets.
Complies with EHS and Engineering standards and guidelines and site EHS procedures.
Actively participates in the ZAP program by reporting Near Miss and Observations to help reduce risk and improve safety.
Qualifications and skills
RequiredGrade 12 or Equivelent.
A minimum of 3 years within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
PreferredTurret Stock Picker & Forklift Driver's License needed.
Other Skills/QualificationsDisciplined and self-motivated.
Good interpersonal skills.
Good organisational skills.
Ability to work under pressure to a deadline.
Numeracy & accuracy - Aptitude for figures.
Ability to work overtime and shifts if required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Uses initiative & is flexible.
Computer literate - knowledge of SAP will be an advantage.
Males will be given preference due to the inherent occupational requirements of the role.
