Role purpose

The G Band Senior Specialist Data Analytics role is based in the Network Performance Intelligence department within Vodacom Technology's Africa Service Operations Centre (ASOC)
This expert role exists at the intersection of network performance statistics, business and software automation. The primary goal of this position is to ensure we deliver a world-class network to our customers by discovering actionable patterns in data and using that to support to our internal and external stakeholders in driving operational efficiency across our network.
We deliver in an Agile way and embrace latest innovation and robotic process automation to ensure we deliver on the frontlines of disruptive technologies.

Your responsibilities will include

Ensuring end-to-end reporting of Radio Access Network (RAN) network performance from various sources, as well as drive continual improvement thereof.
Support and development towards Management, Engineering and Operational teams to drive up network quality.
Interface with other departments and partner markets within Vodacom to identify their reporting requirements and improve meaningfulness of our developed reports to achieve their objectives.
Support various Network Quality Projects as required.
Drive our development strategy of build-once and deploy many times across our partner markets.
Ad hoc investigations and analytics for various business requirements.
Assist with improvement of processes to support our Technology Digital 2025 strategy.
Drive automation uptake and foster a culture of innovation within the team.
Ensure optimal operation of our robotic process automations.
Help us progress from Descriptive & Diagnostic Analytics to Predictive & Prescriptive Analytics.
Assist in our journey from on-premise to Cloud SaaS.
Maintain a strong understanding of Cellular RAN KPIs .
Technical support for external teams on cross-functional network performance projects.
Work closely with database operational support teams to ensure smooth operation of our systems.
Develop and maintain database summary tables to facilitate faster reporting views.
Assist with the development of specialised reports, including those for roaming partners.
Develop and maintain Cognos packages and frameworks.
Compile ad hoc network performance presentations for Senior Executives as required.
Manage team projects, drive delivery of outputs and ensure accurate and timeous network reporting - aligned throughout all partner markets.

Your responsibilities will include

Technical / Professional Qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree in either Information Systems, Mathematical Statistics, Data Science, Mechatronics or Electronic Engineering

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

5-8 years relevant telecommunications network performance experience
Advanced SQL - essential (required as a major part of the role)
Relational Database experience (this role uses Oracle database systems extensively)
