Job Description


To design, install, administer, and optimize Microsoft Windows servers and Azure and cloud-based servers and systems.

Related components in the environment to achieve and maintain high performance of business applications, this includes business critical applications, ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.
Qualifications

  • Matric or NQF level 5
  • BCom /BTech Degree in Information Technology
Certifications
  • Microsoft Certifications xe2x80x93 Server, Messaging, Cloud, OS
  • MCSE / MCTIP / MCSA
  • Azure certifications
  • Any other IT related certification will be advantageous
Experience
  • Minimum of six yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a Microsoft server environment looking after day-to-day administration and operations
  • Solid experience in planning and deploying MS Active directory
Knowledge of and experience in the following is required:

  • Storage configuration including fibre channel.
  • HPE experience will be advantageous

Duties

24/7 support of production server services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business systems (Must Have reliable Transport)
MS System support and Microsoft application administration
Performance monitoring, reporting and optimisation of server environment
Management and maintenance of back-ups and recovery procedures / Documentation
Ensure systems are secure and monitor patching levels
Security and access control on servers and Hyper-V environment including cloud production servers
Provision of support and assistance to server team in the design, development, testing, tuning and implementation client solutions
Implementing appropriate solutions in order to achieve maximum uptime.
Conduct regular internal/external and audits of systems.
Log and Manage calls in terms of escalations ensure timeous resolutions to issues
Communicate internal and external call status
Conduct research on technology, new technology, optimisation and alternative technology
Continuous investigation into application of best practices and enhancements of the environments
Escalation of any problems with data or delays in projects to relevant management where necessary
Completing configuration, installation and support of equipment in a Microsoft Windows environment to the specifications of client proposals
Troubleshoot and resolve computer and telephonic related issues when contacted by clients by providing both on-site and remote support
Maintaining software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance
Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives
Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors and etc. to provide technical assistance and support
Supervising the administration of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorized users
Test backups to ensure the integrity of the data and ability to recover in the event of a deletion/ failure
