Senior Project Manager

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team in Cape Town, on an initial 12-month contact onsite.
Responsibilities:

  • Establish necessary Program/Project Governance and structures.
  • Facilitate the process for Business Case development and approval.
  • Ensure alignment between approved Business Case & project delivery.
  • Define & manage the project in accordance with the PM methodology, governance & standards.
  • Accountable for resource contracting and optimal utilization.
  • Effective Risk, Issue, Actions, Budget & Dependency management.
  • Smooth transition from project implementation to ongoing BAU Support & Maintenance.
  • Accountable for procurement process, vendor contracting & delivery management in accordance to contractual agreements.
  • Effective utilization of project management forums for reporting, escalation & decision making (Project-, Steercom- & Investment committee meetings).
  • Facilitate prioritization process of scope items across multiple business entities based on:
  • Available capacity
  • Budget availability
  • Expected business benefit realization
  • Establish iterative / agile-based teams, sprints, necessary ceremonies and cadences.
  • Track progress through agile-based tools incl burndown charts, velocity, remaining prioritised backlog.
  • Apply formal Change Management process (scope, budget, timeline) and align with the business case.
  • Stakeholder management - establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12
  • Relevant IT or Project Management qualification.
Experience:
  • > 8 years of experience in managing multi-million-rand projects or programs reporting into Executive Management.
  • Applicable experience in managing outsourced projects in a multi-vendor environment.
  • Proven performance record in managing Infrastructure/Technical projects.
  • Solid experience in Business Case Development and estimations.
  • Solid experience in applying the Agile methodology.
  • Establishing and Managing Scrum teams
  • Experience of legacy and modern technologies.
  • Experience in managing the change that comes with migration/modernization from legacy to open system technologies.
  • Relevant experience in managing projects in Financial Services.
  • Proven experience in the Collections and Payment system environment (e.g. knowledge of stop orders; debit orders; Debi check and new payment technologies).
Knowledge:
  • Project Management Knowledge w.r.t.:
  • Principles of Program Management.

  • Project Management Tools.
  • Project Planning and Control techniques:

  • Sound understanding of the RFP/RFI process.
  • Knowledge of the Collections and Payment development and operational environment (e.g. knowledge of stop orders; debit orders; debicheck and new payment technologies).
