LOCATION: Cape Town or Stellenbosch, Hybrid work, 3 days in office.

Our client is a global investment company - who have superb wealth management HNW clients.

The company is one of the world's leading independently owned family offices and the largest in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as measured by its breadth of services, geographic reach and by assets under management, advice and administration. The company provides a range of services from long-term strategic planning and investments to day-to-day advice and administration to over 250 families of wealth. The asset management business is relatively small but growing in SA and has a significant global footprint. This role however, is for the SA office and SA listed stocks.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of top-quality equity research to provide the necessary information to make well-informed investment decisions for the company's equity management South Africa strategy and associated portfolios;
  • You will be required to conduct in-depth, high-quality company and industry research as a critical input to add value;
  • You will be required to report formally on research projects by means of high quality written reports and in person;
  • You will be required to make clear and appropriate conviction recommendations on the businesses under coverage, with substantiated supporting information, to generate competitive returns;
  • You will be required to take initiative in emphasising positive and negative opportunities amongst the full universe;
  • You will be responsible for the preparation for and attendance of equity management meetings with active participation;
  • You will be required to generate appropriate content for both internal and external usage on an ad hoc basis;
  • You will be required to undertake client facing activities as required;
  • You will be responsible for adhering to investment management and group compliance policies and procedures, undertaking appropriate regulatory training and dealing with potential breaches of compliance policies without delay.

  • You have technical knowledge: You are able to demonstrate required technical knowledge, understand the policies, processes and systems in your area of expertise, keep technical knowledge up to date;
  • You have research and analysis skills: You are able to display analytical, objective and thorough approach to information gathering, considers and questions all scenarios and identifies the most important factors, present analysis in a clear manner reaching logical conclusions;
  • You have problem solving and decision-making skills: You are able to consider the wider consequences of each decision, gather and analyse information to find creative solutions;
  • You are able to show a passion and enthusiasm for equity markets.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • You have a minimum of 3 years current, relevant working experience in equity analysis role; this could be more - and we would discuss the level of work and responsibility dependant on the individuals who is successful
  • You have a demonstrated track record of investment skill and strong technical top down research;
  • You have current, relevant FAIS experience with the necessary (RE5) representative regulatory exam - this would be a distinct advantage. If not, then you would have to undergo supervision to meet the fit and proper criteria;
  • You have working experience with Factset or similar market software;
  • You have knowledge of MS Office (Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
