The Role: Senior Network Security Engineer

This role is to be an expert and leader in our 'pod' in Cape Town, the plan is to build a team around your skills as a Cyber Security expert, more details of the role below. We are looking for an expert and mentor and someone who wants to grow with us.

Responsibilities

• Implementation, review, configure and maintain security platforms such as anti-virus, anti-spam, switches, firewalls, SIEM, and Intune MDM.
• Assessment of antivirus, firewall, SIEM, VPN, SSL, Office 365 and other platforms
• Continuous improvement through implementation of network security best practices as detailed through review and executed via approved changes.
• Responsible for scheduled periodic internal and external vulnerability testing along with remediation projects.
• Part of a monitoring team replying to security-related events and support in remediation efforts.
• Coordinate and oversee log and event analysis for security managed services offerings to ensure customer policy and security requirements are met.
• Maintain network security devices to enable pro-active defence of networks within a managed service SOC environment, providing protective monitoring to multiple customers.
• Work in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders to ensure customers have devices that are fully operational and secure.
• Work under change control processes to ensure only authorized changes are made to devices.
• Collaborate with managed services, professional services, account management and other departments on security-related items and any other duties as assigned by team lead.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of securing network devices (switches, firewalls, servers, storage) and any other security networking hardware or software tools.
• Minimum, two yearsxe2x80x99 experience identifying threats and developing appropriate protection measures.
• Knowledge of Sonicwall Firewalls and strong firewall configuration experience is an advantage.
• Reviewing system changes for security implications and recommending improvements.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent documentation skills.
• Work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree or equivalent in information systems or Computer engineering/science.
• Attention to details and good problem-solving skill.
• Positive attitude and a focus on assisting customers through continuous security improvements.
• Continuous learning and certification
