Senior Manager: Compliance (Financial Services)

A reputable financial services concern has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager: Compliance.

Position Overview:

The Senior Manager: Compliance is responsible for implementing procedures to ensure compliance with regulations/legislation affecting the business of the Group and advising internal business units on how to meet compliance requirements.

The role also leads investigations of suspicious activities and complaints received from the clients, regulators, and different ombuds; and pursues corrective actions; and notify authorities, as necessary.

Additionally, one will stay informed on changes to all related regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing, implementing, and managing the group's compliance program.
• Overseeing the compliance monitoring which includes development of compliance monitoring programmes.
• Relationship with regulatory bodies.
• Creating and coordinating proper reporting channels for compliance issues.
• Trusted Advisor to the group on regulatory compliance matters.
• People management.
• Training and awareness.

Key Requirements to qualify for consideration:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB), plus certification as a Compliance Professional - CProf (SA), and an Admitted Attorney.
• Member of the Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA).
• Minimum 8 years' experience in Legal, Banking, and strong knowledge of Regulatory Compliance Guidelines and Standards within the financial services sector, of which at least 4 years must have been in a Middle to Senior Managerial role.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in legal and compliance within a Mortgage Lending Environment will be preferred.
