Lecturing three term-length courses per year across the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum;
Research and publication;
Supervision of postgraduate students;
Administration, including management of courses taught;
Departmental citizenship, including in a range of departmental activities such as meetings, seminars and workshops;
Working collegially and collectively in an interdisciplinary environment.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
PhD in Sociology (allied disciplines will be considered if sociologically relevant);
An established research profile: at least seven peer-reviewed journal articles (including at least two in international journals);
At least two years of undergraduate teaching experience;
Experience in curriculum design;
Experience with supervision at Master's and Doctoral levels;
Expertise in two of the following five fields: Sociology of Race and Inequality, Public Sociology, Sociology of Education, Historical Sociology, and/or Sociology of Development
An existing international scholarly network, demonstrated by co-authorship, extended collaboration, or external examination;
Excellent communication skills;
A cover letter situating your research in relation to the Department's expertise and vision.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
A record of securing scholarships and research grants;
Experience in organising scholarly activities: seminars, workshops and colloquia.
