Duties/Pligte
Teaching and coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Ancient Semitic Languages (with specialisation in Biblical Hebrew) and Ancient Cultures (Ancient West Asian and North
African Studies) mainly to students of Theology and the Humanities.Postgraduate supervision in Ancient Semitic Languages (specifically Hebrew) and Ancient Cultures (Ancient West Asian and North African Studies).
Continuously conducting research on the interpretation and translation of Ancient Semitic texts, particularly those written in ancient Hebrew and Aramaic, leading to the publication of research
outputs in subject-specific publications.Actively contributing to curriculum renewal at the Department.
Effectively performing administrative tasks and academic leadership as required by the level of appointment.
Actively involved in research and other departmental activitities.
Active involvement in community interaction projects.
Onderrig en koordinering van voorgraadse en nagraadse kursusse in Antieke Semitiese Tale (met spesialisasie in Bybelse Hebreeus) en Antieke Kulture (Antieke Wes-Asie en Noord-Afrika)
hoofsaaklik vir studente in Teologie en die Geesteswetenskappe.Nagraadse studieleiding in Antieke Semitiese Tale (spesifiek Hebreeus) en Antieke Kulture (Antieke Wes-Asie en Noord-Afrika).
Deurlopende navorsing oor die interpretasie en vertaling van Antieke Semitiese tekste, veral die wat in antieke Hebreeus en Aramees geskryf is, wat lei tot die publikasie van navorsingsuitsette
in vakspesifieke publikasies.Aktiewe bydrae tot kurrikulumvernuwing in die Departement.
Doeltreffende uitvoering van administratiewe take en akademiese leierskap soos vereis deur die posvlak.
Aktiewe betrokkenheid by navorsings- en ander departementele aktiwiteite.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
A doctoral degree in Biblical Hebrew/Ancient Semitic Languages or cognate field.
A proven record of high-quality published research outputs on a continuous basis in the research areas mentioned above, demonstrating experience and versatility in these fields.
National and international recognition in the research areas above, as demonstrated by, for example, an NRF rating.
Significant experience in the teaching of Ancient Semitic Languages, and specifically Biblical Hebrew and the cultures of Ancient West Asia and North Africa.
Proven experience of successful postgraduate supervision in Biblical Hebrew or a cognate field.
Flexibility to get involved in the various curricula and modules offered by the Department.
Proficiency in the use of information technologies in the teaching and studying of Biblical
Hebrew and Ancient Cultures.
The ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Proficient communication and lecturing skills.
'n Doktorsgraad in Bybelse Hebreeus/Antieke Semitiese Tale of 'n verwante veld.
'n Bewese rekord van hoegehalte gepubliseerde navorsingsuitsette op 'n deurlopende basis in die navorsingsgebiede hierbo genoem, wat van ervaring en veelsydigheid in hierdie veld getuig.
Nasionale en internasionale erkenning in die navorsingsgebiede hierbo aangedui, soos byvoorbeeld gedemonstreer deur 'n NNS-gradering.
Beduidende ervaring in die onderrig van Antieke Semitiese Tale, spesifiek Bybelse Hebreeus, en die kulture van Antieke Wes-Asie en Noord-Afrika.
Bewese ervaring van suksesvolle nagraadse studieleiding in Bybelse Hebreeus of `n verwante veld.
Buigsaamheid om betrokke te raak by die verskeie kurrikulums en modules wat deur die Departement aangebied word.
Vaardigheid in die gebruik van inligtingstegnologie in die onderrig en studie van Bybelse Hebreeus en Antieke Kulture.
Die vermoe om onafhanklik sowel as in 'n span te werk.
Goeie kommunikasie- en doseervaardighede.
