Senior Import Accountant

The opportunity:

Responsibility for day-to-day execution of accounting and control tasks for Import Stock accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of journals for Import stock accounting entries.
• Review of journals submitted by the import accountant and import administrator.
• Conduct reconciliations for Import stock accounts against sub-ledger data and identify variances for resolution.
• Daily/monthly of clearing of recon open items, ensuring no items older than 90 days on control accounts.
• Determine the appropriate resolution for Import stock variances and control deficiencies with the shipping and IT department.
• Initiate variance resolution with the appropriate stakeholder groups and monitor resolution of variances.
• Escalate inconsistent, inaccurate or incomplete transactions for resolution.
• Prepare adjusting journals for entries that require correction.
• Oversight of systems-driven / automated stock accounting entries produced and non-trading account buckets.
• Approval of adjusting journals for entries that require correction.
• Responsibility for import-related month-end close, including coordination and liaising with all relevant stakeholders.
• Compiling any ad-hoc import-related reports.
• Involvement and ownership of any import / export stock related projects.
• Assisting team members, providing feedback to business and acting as an escalation point for all matters relating to imports

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree (Financial Accounting or Related) [Mandatory]
• 5+ Yearsxe2x80x99 experience Post Qualification
• Exposure to Imports environment (Advantageous)
• Registration with a professional body (Advantageous)
