About the Company

Zorora Sofas is a design-led South African furniture manufacturer based in Cape Town. We specialise in beautifully crafted, contemporary upholstered furniture, produced in-house with a strong focus on quality, innovation, and customer experience. As we continue to expand, we are strengthening our Product Design Team with the addition of a skilled and experienced Senior Furniture Draughtsman.

The Role

We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented

Senior Furniture Draughtsman

to lead the development of new product designs and support the evolution of Zorora's furniture collections. This role requires advanced CAD capability, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for designing products that are both aesthetically pleasing and efficient to manufacture.

Working closely with our COO, engineers, designers, and production teams, you will play a key part in shaping product architecture, improving processes, and ensuring our design output meets the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage design projects from concept through to completion. Develop and oversee Technical Packages for new products and variations, including CNC requirements.. Provide advanced CAD drafting, modelling, and engineering input. Conduct design reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance, and manufacturability. Guide trial builds and support production with technical insights. Identify opportunities to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency. Collaborate with Customer Services and factory teams to refine designs. Monitor costing models to ensure competitiveness and margin alignment. Mentor junior designers and interns while contributing to training initiatives. Communicate clearly with senior management and key stakeholders. Maintaining an accurate Bill of Materials and Costings are accurate and up to date. Maintain accurate production sequencing and timing to support smooth factory operations.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in design engineering or draughting. Proficiency in SketchUp, Fusion 360 or similar CAD software. Strong understanding of materials, upholstery, and manufacturing processes. Proven ability to lead projects and deliver high-accuracy technical work. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. Experienced in furniture manufacturing industry
