Minimum Requirements:

• Matric essential
• Fire Officer 1
• Fire Officer 2 will be advantageous
• Fire Instructor 1 will be advantageous
• xc3x82 National Diploma in Fire Engineering or related Risk Field will be advantageous
• 3 years in industrial and municipal fire services in a supervisory capacity
• Intermediate Life Support Paramedic mandatory including registration with HPCSAxc3x82 (non-negotiable).
• High angle rope rescue 1+2 qualificationsxc3x82
• Experience within the Pulp and Paper industry will be beneficial
• SAP or equivalent Central Maintenance Management System proficiency is advantageous
• High level of fitness is required for the position
• Snake identification/bite treatment and snake handling will be advantageousxc3x82

Key Performance Areas:

• Coordinate Rescue and Fire Protection Services
• Coordinate Emergency Medical Services
• Maintain availability of equipment and appliances to ensure equipment are in good working order
• Take responsibility as incident commander during emergencies and instruct personnel to restore operations efficiently
• Develop pre-fire plans as an outcome from audits or drills
• Develop rescue plans as an outcome from audits or drills
• Produce accurate fire audit reports
• Produce accurate drill reports
• Investigate fire incidents and determine the cause and corresponding corrective actions

• Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at different levels in the organisation
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and without supervision xc3xa2xc2x80xc2x93 accurately and timeously
• Ability to train and coach personnel at different levels in the organisation
• Ability to conduct audits and report accurately on findings
• Planning and execution of fire/emergency medical/hazmat drills and reporting of findings and recommendations
• Manage and control the inspection/servicing and testing of emergency response equipment
