Job Description

To take responsibility for the accuracy and integrity all aspects of financial accounting and reporting of all assets, including moveable assets.



MANDATE

The role is also responsible for all bookkeeping functions and NPO accounting for the Coega Development Corporation.



DESCRIPTION

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS




Treasury Management




Implements cash flow analysis by performing weekly and monthly cash flow analyses and conducting quarterly and annual cash flow projections. Manages bank accounts, including opening and closing accounts and updating signatories. Liaises with banks and conducts monthly bank reconciliations. Ensures petty cash and cash advances are handled accurately.

General Ledger Management:




Manages month-end closing and reconciliation processes. Reviews reconciliations and journal entries for accuracy and compliance. Maintains the chart of accounts and manages new GL code requests.

Asset Management:




Oversees the management of all aspects of movable assets within CDC.

Accounts Payable Management:




Oversees the management, administration and reporting of all aspects of accounts payable of the CDC, excluding Programme creditors.

Accounts Receivable Management:




Oversees the management of the accounts receivable function including billings, collections, accounting, reporting and administration.

Financial Accounting / Financial Management:




Ensures accurate intercompany accounting and VAT calculations. Conducts accounting for leases and reviews rental leases. Accounts for VAT and reviews monthly VAT returns. Ensures accuracy of leave provisions and prepares the disclosure note for financial statements.

Financial Reporting and Auditing:




Prepares and manages the process of compiling mid-year and year-end audit files for external reviews and the Auditor General South Africa (AGSA). Ensures internal controls are in place and financial records are accurate and complete. Stays current with accounting regulations and liaises with auditors.

People Management:




Manages subordinates in line with company policies. Fosters a supportive environment for staff development. Implements staff development and training. Develops and monitors annual performance plans and participates in recruitment.

COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS




Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8) in Accounting / Financial Management / Business Management, and Chartered Accountant (SA) or equivalent professional registration with completed articles. CA (SA). 5 - 10 years' financial management experience in a diverse environment utilising and ERP system. Proven experience in financial accounting responsibilities (review and processing transactions, preparing control account reconciliations). Experience in data manipulation and data analysis reporting. Hands on experience in presenting financial information to management. Highly analytical Attention to detail Strong financial, quantitative and numerative skills Strong organisational, planning and task management skills Good problem solving abilities Good communication skills Results and deadline driven Stakeholder management People management Advanced proficiency in MS Office. Familiarity with software such as Pastel and Oracle. Professional Registration

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT




Performance is monitored regularly at both an individual and a team level, in accordance with the CDC's performance management system and control measures relevant to the position.
