KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for the Finance and Administration processes of one or more of the Project Companies of ENGIE's portfolio as assigned.
Financial management
Supervising all financial accounting activities (bookkeeping, month end close, journal and reconciliation review, periodic disbursements etc.);
Eskom invoicing and payment of all creditors;
Monitor Operations Budget and payment of O&M Company;
Monitor daily and monthly energy production;
Implement recommendations made by the Company's auditors and ARC;
Ensuring that all accounting and other related administrative records of the Company are maintained properly;
Monthly trial balance review, identification of any anomalies or possible problems, investigation and resolving of issues;
Review and sign off monthly balance;
Management accounts movement reviews and analysis on specific accounts as required;
Assist in procurement and HR administration function.
Shareholder Obligations
Plan, execute and monitor payment of interest and repayment of shareholder loans
Plan, execute and monitor payment of dividends
Implementation of strategies to safeguard and/or increase shareholder value
Lenders' Obligations
Manage the performance of the obligations of the Company under the Financing Agreements
Prepare documents and reports to lenders
Plan, execute and monitor debt service
Manage compliance with financial covenants and hedging strategy
Respond to all queries and requests for information from lenders
Project Document Obligations
Ensure compliance with all Project Documents
Control and verify the calculation of any bonuses to be paid to the O&M Company
Monitor and liaise with the O&M Company and submit accurate daily and weekly production forecasts
Respond to queries and requests for information from the DoE and Eskom
Treasury & cash management
Treasury & cash management including management of all debt facilities and related agreements;
Implement improved budgeting and forecasting methodologies to limit deviations of actuals from budget/forecast
Monitor the implementation of the foreign exchange and interest rate swap hedge book and execution of the hedge strategy
Periodic update to the financial model / business case including relevant analysis
Maximize the return of available cash while minimizing the volatility
Taxation compliance
Preparation and filing of tax returns (Income Tax, VAT etc.)
Reporting & analysis
Interact with ENGIE Finance Team with a special focus on compliance and ENGIE SMART reporting ensuring timely and accurate response to queries;
Monitoring of Company actual performance against targets;
Ensure timely and accurate statutory reporting and reporting to stakeholders;
Preparation and presentation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts;
Management of the annual audit process including preparation of the annual financial statements under IFRS;
Preparation of the Audit Committee pack and presentation to the Audit Committee;
Assisting in the preparation of Board pack and participation in the Board meetings.
Governance & internal controls
Continuous implementation and improvement of existing policies, processes, procedures and systems where the opportunity exists;
Optimization and management of key financial risks;
Ensuring compliance with Company's internal policies, processes and procedures and guidelines;
Ensure compliance with ENGIE's internal control rules;
Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and accounting standards
Other
Assist in the management of insurance programmes
Manage and oversee IT services with external service providers
Managing of junior staff reports and ensuring skills and knowledge transfer is achieved

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education
Qualified Chartered Accountant, Engineer or Economist with minimum 7 years post articles experience
Language
Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
Experience
Minimum 7 years experience in infrastructure asset management environment
Experience working within or with Independent Power Producers is preferable
Specific Knowledge / skills
knowledge of and ability to interpret and update financial models (critical skill)
Understanding of the South African renewable energy market
Knowledge of Project Finance is a key advantage
Knowledge and application of relevant compliance requirements with complex contractual entities
Knowledge of legislative and regulatory changes that might have a financial impact on the Asset Owner
Excellent knowledge of finance, accounting (IFRS), tax, and the applicable functions and disciplines
Strong knowledge of financial controls
Excellent MS office computer skills
Great Plains and/or SAP experience is a plus
