JOB TITLE: Senior Filter Technician - Mogalakwena, Limpopo, South Africa
We are seeking a Filter Technician to join our team. You will be required to give expert-level service and feedback to customers on equipment performance and production improvement activities relating to the products being supported.
As part of the Metso Field Services team, you will be given Metso-specific product training and certification, but prior hands-on experience is required to be a successful candidate.
You will join a team of technicians dedicated to installation, commission, planned maintenance and repairs on a host of Metso equipment. We are currently conducting mechanical maintenance work on pumps, pipes, filters and other crucial areas of the plant to ensure continued operation.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Customers and Metso product specialists such as LCS Support Centre. Our team culture is all about excellent customer service on Metso Equipment.
You will report directly to the LCS Site Manager.
This position is mainly located in Mogalakwena, South Africa.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, competency and/or ability required

  • Work as a member of a maintenance team for reactive and preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Fitting and repairing of mechanical parts of Filters
  • Coaching filter technicians and operators
  • Maintenance planning and forecasting
  • Support the Site Supervisor
  • Liase with Engineering Foreman and Section Engineer
  • Conduct mechanical maintenance work on filters and other crucial areas of the plant to ensure continues operation
  • Perform all work in a planned and organised manner, follow instructions and plans and complete work on schedule
  • Ensure that work performed meets all statuary requirements and company standards
  • Housekeeping duties of the maintenance area
  • In cooperation with the other maintenance personnel ensure the optimisation plant performance and continuos development of site maintenance
  • Ensure a safe work environment and compliance to all SHEQ regulations and standards during the work and ensure compliance with statuary and other regulations as are required by law
  • Continually review and where necessary suggest changes that will improve the department occupational health, safety, quality and efficiency performance.
  • Other duties as directed by Site Manager.
  • Maintaining 5S within the working environment
  • Willingness to assist in additional reasonable tasks on hand
  • Maximize performance on all equipment
  • Complete job cards, logbooks and inspection reports
  • Conduct safety inspections
  • Must be available and willing to take standby(on-call) and assist colleagues over the phone
WHO YOU ARE
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Trade tested fitter or Millwright as a minimum
  • Minimum 5 years of field service experience in the Mining sectors, metals, metallurgical processing
  • Computer Literate
  • Understanding our principles of customer relations and interaction
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a drive and performance orientation
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere

  • Exposure to internal and external environmental conditions, noise, hazards
  • Own Transport to and from the site
  • Must reside within the Mogalakwena district. And be able to be on-site within 45min from a breakdown callout

  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment is used as required.
  • Manage the housekeeping in area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as required related to Safety and Quality of the work you are supporting/ executing.
  • Retain all relevant correspondence by e-filing or hard copies.
  • Compliance and implementation of the Metso Modus Operandi, Life Saving Rules, and other mandated guidelines
