Job Requirements
Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Event Management, Public Relations, Marketing, or a closely related discipline.
Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or stakeholder engagement is highly desirable.
A Master's degree will be considered an added advantage.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in planning and executing medium to large-scale events--both in-person and hybrid/virtual formats--within higher education, corporate, or non-profit environments.
Proven track record of managing events with 500+ attendees and delivering across hybrid/virtual platforms is essential.
Duties:
Develop and maintain an annual events calendar that supports the University's strategic objectives. Plan, manage, and deliver over 50 events per year, including academic symposia, alumni functions, and formal ceremonies, across hybrid and virtual platforms. Partner with internal units and external service providers to align event goals, secure necessary resources, and oversee logistics. Administer event budgets up to R400,000, ensuring strict adherence to procurement guidelines and achieving a minimum of 95% budget compliance. Uphold University branding standards, VIP and dignitary protocols, and accessibility requirements (e.g., WCAG, SANS 10400-S). Conduct post-event reviews incorporating data analytics and stakeholder feedback to inform continuous improvement and boost attendance by at least 20% annually. Lead the strategic execution of high-profile events that reflect the University's values and engage diverse audiences. * Operate autonomously, demonstrating initiative and excellence in event delivery without direct team supervision.
