Job Description


Job Summary Key Competencies: - Apply advanced knowledge to plan the transmission network for the future, ensuring that all aspects are technically sound. - Plan the transmission fibre route and dimensioning for long haul, metro, and access network. - Maintaining a holistic view of the network to ensure planning does not take place in isolation. - Regularly perform traffic forecasting, capacity planning and equipment requirements. - Ensure the integration and management of all the network elements. - Provide input into capital expenditure and operating expenditure budget and into corporate plan. - Provide input to the transmission network growth plan based on customers traffic forecast and requirements. - Provide input to customer specific solutions and their integration into the existing network and its management systems. - Assist in responding to tenders, mentoring and training of new interns. - Prepare and present documentation for funding approval, operational and capital budget. - Interact with customers (which may be operators, state-owned and or provisional institutes) and engineer relevant technical solutions and present solutions to them. Required Qualifications and Experience: - BSc/B Eng degree in Electronics Engineering (Light Current) with Telecommunications, Radio, Microwave subjects included or equivalent. - Registration with ECSA would be an advantage. - Have an in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of the SDH and DWDM and optical transmission networks planning and integration. - Knowledge of Radio, Microwave networks, IP/MPLS networks is an advantage. Years or more experience in the telecommunications industry is required. - Knowledge of Project Management, having good writing, presentation experience Microsoft Office 365, strong in applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project and Outlook will be an advantage. - Familiarity with ITU-T Standards is also an advantage.
