Take ownership of our tech stack. Lead the Shopify 2.0 migration, roll out automation and AI tools, and report directly into the founder. Help us scale from 1M to 2M+ and earn performance bonuses along the way.

The Opportunity



We're a fast-scaling, design-led product brand with global reach. Our products are stocked in John Lewis, Macy's, Next, and sold direct-to-consumer across multiple international markets. We're looking for a senior Tech Lead to join us part-time, own our full e-commerce tech strategy, and work side-by-side with the founder to drive real commercial performance.

This is a remote role (South Africa based), fixed at 2 days per week (Mondays and Tuesdays), with light on-call support if anything breaks.

Your First Major Project



You'll lead our platform migration from Shopify 1.0 to 2.0, then onto Shopify Plus. You'll scope, manage, and execute this upgrade while improving site performance, mobile UX, checkout flow, integrations, and long-term scalability.

Your Responsibilities



Platform Performance & Execution



Lead the Shopify 2.0 and Shopify Plus rollout Rebuild theme architecture with speed, UX, and conversion in mind Optimise checkout, product discovery, bundling, gift-buying features Oversee Klaviyo, Global-e, Amazon, Faire and other key integrations

Automation, AI & App Stack Management



Roll out our 12-month tech roadmap across automation, personalisation, CRO, loyalty, returns, reviews, and subscriptions Identify gaps and recommend best-in-class Shopify apps and AI tools Replace outdated systems and improve operational efficiency Automate reporting, tagging, alerts, and key workflows via Shopify Flow and third-party tools

Monitoring, Reporting & Impact Analysis



Deliver a monthly Tech Snapshot report (deployments, bug fix rate, uptime, page speed, CVR) Present a quarterly Strategic Tech Review (wins, proposals, roadmap updates) Monitor conversion rates, GTM/GA4 tracking, site health, uptime (? 99.5%) Own bug tracking and resolve critical issues within SLA (? 48 hrs)

Vendor Management & Internal Support



Manage relationships with Shopify apps and platform partners Create Loom tutorials and internal docs to support tech onboarding Liaise with marketing, ops, and design to ensure seamless team workflows Be available on-call for urgent issues that may arise mid-week

Rate:

1,000/month (12-month contract)

On-call:

Ad hoc, low-frequency, for emergency fixes
