Job Summary
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute short-term trading strategies focused on physical commodities within South Africa
• Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify profitable opportunities and manage risk exposure
• Provide regular insights and commentary to senior leadership on market trends and pricing movements
• Maintain full compliance with industry regulations and stay informed on market developments
• Collaborate with fellow traders and the risk team to align trading strategies with business objectives
• Adjust strategies dynamically to respond to real-time market shifts and mitigate potential risk
• Continuously evaluate, optimise, and manage your trading portfolio to meet performance targets
• Leverage an established network to identify unique trading opportunities across the agricultural commodity space
• Contribute to process improvement and operational efficiency across the trading function
• Provide timely reports on performance, trading activity, and market conditions

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 7 years' experience in commodity trading, specifically with physically traded products
• Proven track record of profitable trading and managing self-directed portfolios
• Strong network and relationships within the commodity trading and agriculture sector
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Strong strategic thinking, planning, and organisational ability
• Leadership qualities with the ability to problem-solve independently
• A relevant post-graduate qualification is advantageous but not essential
• Fluency in multiple languages would be an asset
• In-depth understanding of the South African agricultural commodities market
