Job Description

A well-established and respected consulting engineering firm with a strong footprint in infrastructure and civil works projects, is currently seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their team in Krugersdorp. This is a strategic hire aimed at bolstering the company's high-caliber design leadership team.
Responsibilities
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
Sign off designs and drawings as the responsible Professional Engineer.
Engage directly with clients on feasibility studies, project scoping, and planning.
Lead and coordinate the execution of engineering design reviews.
Ensure all work complies with the company's Quality Management System (QMS), policies, and industry standards.
Champion employee engagement through recognition, empowerment, and supportive feedback.
Develop and standardize design tools, software, codes, and practices across projects.
Assign and monitor work progress within design teams to maintain quality and timelines.
Collaborate with contractors and construction monitoring teams during project execution phases.
Manage technical deliverables such as reports, cost estimates, contract documentation, specifications, and manuals.
Attend site inspections and meetings as necessary.
Participate in business planning, contract negotiations, and training initiatives.
Promote ethical engineering practices and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.Eng or B.Sc. Eng).
Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng).
Minimum 15 years of experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
Expertise in infrastructure-related design and planning.
Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., GCC, FIDIC, NEC, JBCC).
Proven experience managing large, multidisciplinary design teams.
Advanced project management, analytical, and leadership skills.
Proficient in MS Office and engineering software tools.
Excellent communication and technical report writing abilities.
Comprehensive understanding of South African construction regulations and environmental legislation.
