Job Description

Our client, a manufacturer and supplier of building materials to the retail and construction industry, is seeking a highly organised and experienced Senior Buyer. The role of the Senior Buyer is to support procurement activities within their manufacturing operations.This role requires an individual with strong knowledge of purchasing processes and international vendor development.Location: Port Elizabeth/GqeberhaJob type: On-site - PermanentDuties and Responsibilities

• Process Purchase Requisitions (PRs) within 24-48 hours of receipt.
• Manage vendor performance
• Track imports
• Drive cost efficiencies
• Maintain supplier relationships
• Compile reports
• Ensure alignment with internal specs and budgetary requirements.
• Source, negotiate, and place orders for goods and services based on plant requisitions
• Verify PR item requirements and obtain three competitive quotes.
• Check available stock with stores before raising orders.
• Confirm technical specifications with users before placing orders.
• Convert PRs into Purchase Orders (POs) upon approval and issue to suppliers.
• Track outstanding POs and Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) for closure.
• Monitor deliveries and advise suppliers of quality or delivery issues.
• Conduct daily follow-ups on open procurement items.
• Create and manage import service and spares templates for approval.
• Reconcile import technician accounts and track shipments to plant delivery.
• Follow up on all outstanding and advance payment invoices.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a similar field
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a procurement role within the manufacturing or engineering industry
• SAP experience is essential.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Ability to analyse supplier performance and cost-saving opportunities
• Experience managing imports and international logistics - highly advantageous.
