Duties and responsibilities:
Spiritual Interventions
  • Act in accordance with the scope of practice and ethical guidelines as set out by the South African National Traditional Healers Association (SANTHA).
  • Provide spiritual support using models that are best suited for each client.
  • Provide crisis management.
  • Maintain client records for record-keeping purposes.
Training of staff and students
  • Present developmental workshops and programmes for students and staff.
  • Liaise with colleagues, residence and college heads, and other role players regarding the requests, organising, and presenting of workshops on and off campus.
Establishing policies, guidelines and protocols
  • Establish a service model for spiritual support within the Health and Wellness Centre.
  • Assist the Director with conceptualising a policy on the model of spiritual support within the UFS.
Administration
  • Respond to email inquiries, booking/scheduling of sessions with students.
  • Keep records, safeguarding client's confidential information and process notes.
  • Write reports and provide feedback to clients on interventions.
  • Write referral letters and communication with students via email or phone call for collection.
Inherent requirements:
  • Grade 12 or national vocational certificate on NQF Level 4.
  • Registration with the Traditional Healer's organisation, or with the South African National Traditional Healers Association (SANTHA)(attach proof).
  • Minimum of one (1) year's relevant experience working within African Indigenous spiritual support with students in Higher Education.
Recommendations:
  • One (1) year of experience in providing spiritual support within a counselling setting in a higher education environment.
  • Competency in an additional African Language.

Salary:
The annual remuneration package, including benefits is R388 426.59 - R487 479.38 per annum, depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.
