Duties and responsibilities:

  • General office administration
- Provide general administrative support to the relevant Learning Designer.
- Manage the Write Site e-mail.
- Manage consultant communication on Microsoft Teams and other communication channels when required.
- Communicate with students regarding their session attendance or changes in bookings.
- Communicate with consultants regarding their booking details.
- Handle technical queries regarding online consultation sessions.
- Compile the next day's bookings and share this with consultants on official Write Site communication channels.
  • Staff Development
- Assist in providing new Write Site consultants with the necessary LMS training.
  • Curriculum Development (Online workshop development)
- Assist the Write Site Learning Designer with building online writing workshops; text, audio and video file formatting as required.
- Provide first-line support to the Learning Designer regarding the development of course material and activities.
- Follow divisional procedure regarding the development of Write Site organisations on the UFS Learning Management System.
- Provide general LMS design support and logistical support for the online grammar course.
  • Client Relations (Trouble Shooting)
- Attend to problems relating to the Write Site workshops on the UFS Learning Management System.
- Correspond timeously with students and staff members to assist with activities as necessary.
- Provide first-line technical support and troubleshooting in the use of the UFS Learning Management System.
- Follow divisional procedure regarding the reporting and follow-up of technical problems and troubleshooting.
  • Research Assistance
- Gather/collect/capture Write Site organisational data on the UFS Learning Management System.
- Participate in self-development activities to stay ahead of the latest trends in learning development.
  • Communication
- Stay in regular communication with the Learning Designer and the Write Site team about issues, queries, and updates on the progress of online Write Site workshops.
- Communicate with students on individual progress in online workshop completion.

Inherent Job Requirements:

- Grade 12.
- A minimum of one-year relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities.

Recommendations:
  • A post-school qualification, preferably in IT or related field.
  • Knowledge of academic literacy interventions.
  • One-year experience in the use of a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • One-year experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience in general office administration, such as working with booking systems and responding to student queries.
  • Experience working within a writing centre

Salary:
The annual remuneration package, including benefits R354 408.50 - R444 721.26 per annum, depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.
