Gibela Rail invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for Fitting Senior Artisan

Gibela Rail Transport Consortium invites suitably qualified internal candidates to apply for the Senior Artisan - Motors role. The successful candidate will be based in Dunnottar, Nigel.

The incumbent will fulfill the necessary requirements within the organization and meet the objectives with regards to production requirements including but not limited to training of operators, supervising of artisans, dealing with shopfloor production related escalations, and providing support to EPU Managers.

The role reports directly to the Elementary Production Unit Manager (EPU).

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Relevant Trade Qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years Artisan experience, with 4 years achieved in Gibela.
Added advantage:
  • National Technical Certificate NTC 4 (N- Courses).
  • Minimum 2 Special Process and Special Operations Qualifications.
Responsibilities:
  • Able to take the assembly lead across multiple (3) complex process areas, for example rotor brazing, final assembly and final preparation (mechanical disciple) or within the electrical process disciple, namely final testing, wound stator testing and stator winding.
  • Assemble coachesxe2x80x99, sub-assemblies, and accessories, as required for the assigned process.
  • Prepare work to be performed by studying work instructions, manufacturing document specifications, and BOM, gathering necessary tools and materials.
  • Resolve assembly problems to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Carry out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as laid down by legislation and
  • Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; reporting for repairs to EPU Manager
  • Coach and Mentor Operator, trainees, learners, and other direct report in the station
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes and recommendations as per provided rework procedure.
  • Maintain expected progress of tasks per station as per Task sequence and communicate blocking points to the EPU Manager.
  • Verify conditions of the completed tasks in the process by completing self-inspection and other relevant tasks documents.
  • Utilize a variety of procedures, manuals, drawings, and schematics to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems and components.
  • Work or assist in other departments to balance workloads and to meet schedule priorities. Assist in other non-production areas as may be required by supervision or management.
  • Use critical tools such as torque wrenches to adjust parts and equipment, or install parts and equipment, following established work instructions.
  • Ensure all quality control documentation (check lists& self-inspection.) are timeously completed and up to date as a verifies of the completed tasks in the station.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and implement 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) on an allocated workstation.
Senior Artisan Responsibilities:
  • Perform Level U responsibilities.
  • Respect the standards.
  • Manage the time KPI and delivery (cycle time).
  • Deal with deviations (escalations, describe, rework when possible).
  • Capability to coordinate and manage the role change.
  • Conducting on -the-job training for artisans, apprentices, and operators.
  • Investigate unresolved and recurring product defects.
  • Attend to equipment safety and station safety.
  • Conducting quality control inspections on work carried out.
  • Attending meetings i.e., QRQC.
  • Complete risk assessments, hand-over reports, and conduct toolbox talks.
  • Sign of on-job competence on the ILOU matrix.
Incumbents will be developed in the following:
  • Pre-defined Behavioral Courses.
  • MS Office Skills.
  • Production/Operations courses.
  • Coaching, Facilitation and Assessment Skills.
  • Apply for Study Assistance to achieve NTC 6 which is a prerequisite for the Master Artisan role.
