Perform reviews and assessments of complex technical submissions from applicants for, and holders of an authorisation, on nuclear and radiation safety aspects as assigned, based on in-depth understanding of established legal, regulatory, and organisational documents, process and guides, with specific emphasis to PSA Level 1
Minimum Requirements:
NQF level 7 in Natural Sciences or Chemical Engineering or Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
Minimum of 6 years of experience in probabilistic safety assessments level 1, using RiskSpectrum software code, in the regulatory or industry environment
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct complex PSA level 1 reviews and assessments using applicable software codes and regulatory framework and standards
Handle both simple and complex systems assessments
Provide input into the development of regulatory standards, practices and guides
Provide expert opinion and identify emerging topical and regulatory issues on nuclear and radiation safety
Participate in national and international forums
Represent the organisation in meetings with external stakeholders
Participate in organisational work outside the department, as required
