Segway Tour Guide / Activity Leader
Hospitality customer facing position.
Ideal for anybody in a customer facing service position: hospitality / restaurant / personal training sector / retail - customer facing / etc. (Preferably high-end.)
No Segway experience is required; full training will be provided.
Training salary: R28 p/h (1 - 3 months)
Qualified Guide: R40 p/h + Tips + Seasonal Bonus (13th cheque)
Happy to discuss increased salary for experienced, qualified outdoor/adventure guides.
Responsibilities
Meet & greet guests (locals / overseas visitors / adults & kids)
Teaching guests how to operate an off-road Segway (most people have never ridden a Segway)
Leading Segway tours on the farm, this includes ensuring all guests ride in a safe manner. You will take guests to the vines & other areas of interest where you will explain the unique farming practices Spier uses to grow grapes for their award winning wines.
The role is active & involves riding Segways all day on bumpy off-road terrain, outdoor in all weather.
Requirements
Must have high energy levels. Physically fit.
Impeccable presentation and professional demeanour.
Ability to learn quickly under time pressure.
Must live within 20min drive of Spier Wine Farm.
Available to work every weekend & public holiday including Christmas, New years & Easter (8 off days per month, to be taken mid-week Mon-Thurs)
Min 2 years experience in hospitality / restaurant / personal training sector (preferably high-end)
Passion for nature & the outdoors.
Experience working outdoors in both summer (Hot) & winter conditions (cold & wet) at a very fast pace. (Physically fit.)
Fluent in English is a must.
Experience working under time pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Able to control a large group of people, safety of our guests is paramount.
Experience talking in front of large groups of people.
Able to work as part of a team & individually without supervision
Outgoing, talkative, lively personality.
Customer service orientated.
An interest in biodynamic, organic farming practices would be an advantage.
No Segway experience is required; full training will be provided.
No guiding experience necessary, but it would be an advantage.
Wine knowledge would be an advantage.
Valid work permit.
Qualifications
Fluent in English, written & spoken is a must.
Minumum 2 years experience in hospitality / restaurant / retail - customer facing , etc.
Matric is a must.
First Aid qualifications would be beneficial.
