Job Description

Orion Security Services currently seeks Grade C Security Guards who will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and assets of the organization. They will actively monitor and patrol designated areas to ensure compliance with security protocols and respond quickly to any potential threats or incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Protect the organization's and / or tenant's premises by maintaining a visible and physical security presence.
• Monitor and authorize entry of individuals into the facility, property, building etc. ensuring proper identification and adherence to security protocols.
• Conduct routine patrols of the premises to detect and deter potential security breaches or suspicious activities.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and alarms, promptly responding to any security alerts or concerns.
• Report any security breaches, incidents, or irregularities, including maintaining accurate and detailed written reports.
• Escort employees, visitors, or contractors to and from designated areas as and when necessary, ensuring their safety and security.
• Enforce access control measures, including verifying credentials and conducting bag checks, to prevent unauthorized entry or theft.
• Collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and other relevant stakeholders during emergencies or incidents.
• Provide assistance and support during emergency situations, including evacuations, medical emergencies, and general crisis management.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the organization's and / or client's security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and enforcing them effectively.
• Stay updated with the latest security industry trends, technologies, and best practices, continuously enhancing professional knowledge and skills.

• Grade 12 and / or equivalent qualification.
• Grade C PSIRA accredited qualification.
• Must be registered with PSIRA.
• Proven experience as a security guard or a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of security operations and procedures, including access control, surveillance systems, and emergency response protocols.
• Excellent observation and attention to detail skills to identify and respond to potential security threats effectively.
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact confidently with employees, visitors, and law enforcement agencies.
• Physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, as well as the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as security needs may require.

• Ability to handle stressful situations with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
• Integrity, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
• First Aid/CPR certification is desirable, but not mandatory.
