Our client, a leading institutional investment manager, is looking for a Sector Specialist: Agriculture & Agri-Business to join their Research and Innovation team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional who can blend strategic thinking, economic insight and sector expertise to influence high-impact investment decisions across both listed and unlisted portfolios.
This role offers the chance to play a central part in identifying growth opportunities within the agriculture and agri-processing value chains while contributing to national economic development.
Key Duties

• Conduct in-depth sector research that informs agriculture and agri-processing investment strategies
• Develop proprietary industry views and investment ideas for listed and unlisted portfolios
• Produce thematic research and strategic thought leadership to shape investment direction
• Identify investment opportunities and support deal teams through due diligence and post-investment processes
• Monitor and report on sector risks and the performance of agri-investments
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to capability building within the research function

Key Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification in Commerce,

, Agricultural Economics or a related field (NQF 8) * Minimum of 7 years' experience in agriculture or agri-business investment, preferably within asset management,
or development finance * Demonstrated experience producing actionable sector research and applying it in investment contexts

• High-level research innovation with the ability to translate insights into investment decisions
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
• FAIS RE5 certification or the willingness to obtain it within six months
