SUMMARY:
Our client in the Northern Cape is seeking a Section Manager: Purchasing.
You will lead and manage the purchasing function to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of goods and services. Drive performance, support operational needs, enable continuous improvement, and contribute to sustainable and inclusive procurement practices.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end purchasing and repair execution, ensuring alignment with technical, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Implement and monitor purchasing strategies that support business operations and continuous improvement.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance, resolving issues and ensuring delivery effectiveness.
- Lead and develop the purchasing team, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance frameworks, and applicable legislation.
- Support sustainability and local procurement initiatives to create community value.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Postgraduate qualification or substantial practical experience in a similar role (advantageous).
- Proven experience in purchasing, procurement operations, and supplier management.
- Valid driver's license (Code B or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of transactional purchasing processes and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Data analysis and reporting for performance improvement.
- Supplier negotiation and stakeholder engagement.
- Leadership and team development.
- Understanding of compliance, sustainability, and inclusive procurement practices.
