Job Description

The purpose of the post is to manage multi-disciplinary capital projects of strategic importance to SAFARI-1, using resources within SAFARI-1, as well as within and outside Necsa, and coordinating their activities within time schedules and budgets to high safety, quality and performance standards.


Key Performance Areas:



Provide Control and Instrumentation engineering support to achieve production goals and objectives. Write and update all strategic documents related to Ageing Management. Regularly update the SAFARI-1 Ageing Management Assessment Matrix. Facilitate and present technical justifications for SAFARI-1 lifetime assessment. Prepare and allocate budgets for the Ageing Management Programme. Perform annual evaluation of Ageing Management Projects and submit effectiveness reports to management. Every four years, organise and lead the SAFARI-1 Ageing Management Programme

Evaluation Task Team to assess:


Ageing degradation mechanisms

Obsolescence management

Technical aspects (maintenance, testing, safety reviews, equipment qualification, etc.)

Overall effectiveness of the AM Programme.

Formulate Scope of Work for Strategic Upgrade and Ageing Management Projects aligned with operational, safety, regulatory, and international best practices. Plan and schedule project tasks including prioritization, risk consideration, milestone planning, and budgeting. Be the main contact point with Project Management Office for the following: -

Maintain and enhance the project execution function to meet SAFARI-1's project needs.

Participate in the Execution and implementation of Ageing Management Projects including construction and commissioning phases.

In collaboration with Facility Engineering Function Coordinate design processes to ensure alignment with project goals.

In collaboration with Project Management Function actively provide direction to Control changes, budget, and schedule slippage during execution and ensure timely Identification and management project risks.

Negotiate and coordinate resources for Ageing Management and Long-Term Operation of SAFARI-1.

Integrate and control cross-functional project teams. Manage procurement processes for projects in accordance with Necsa policies. Formulate purchase specifications, analyse tenders, issue orders, and negotiate contracts. Report on Ageing Management Project progress regularly. Provide project control support and guidance to all Reactor Operations and SAFARI-1 project execution. Organise and chair SAFARI-1 Monthly Ageing Management Projects Direction Meetings to evaluate Ageing Management project progress. Manage regulatory conformance requirements: RSC Approval, INS 0800 (SHEQD), Approval, NNR Approval, and others. Liaise with Legal Department and regulatory bodies as necessary. Participate in Management Reviews to provide governance input and report on Ageing Management Programme effectiveness. Facilitate alignment with international and organizational governance requirements. Contribute to implement the Ageing Management Programme of SAFARI-1. Work independently to achieve the Ageing Management goals in support of the Long-Term Operation of SAFARI-1. Contribute to the successful completion of the Ageing Management Projects in support of both the Shutdown Maintenance activities as required by Ageing Management Modifications and in preparation of Long-Term Operation. Interact with the relevant personnel both internally and externally of SAFARI-1 and Necsa organization '(and internationally) to get things done. Act as a point of contact for SAFARI-1 Ageing Management Projects acquisition and business Project Definition and development within the operating organization. In this position you will be required to travel internationally and accumulate knowledge and be the expert in SAFARI-1 Ageing Management Programme and Long-Term Operation.

Qualifications and Experience:




Education

B.Eng in Mechanical/ Electrical/Electronic or equivalent NQF Level 8.

Experience:


8 years Engineering experience in an industrial environment of which 3 Years in Project Engineering experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
