Job Description


To deliver engaging and rigorous Science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics) aligned with the British National Curriculum to secondary school students. The role aims to promote scientific literacy, inquiry-based learning, and critical thinking, while fostering a passion for science in a diverse international classroom.Nationality Requirement:UK / European passport holders preferredQualifications Required:Bachelors Degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field) face-to-face studyPGCE Certificate (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) for UK applicantsSACE Registration for South African applicantsExperience:Minimum 2 years of teaching experience at the secondary level in a British curriculum schoolAbility to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and preferably 5 (A-Level or equivalent)Experience in preparing students for IGCSE and A-Level Science examinations (desirable)Previous international or GCC experience (preferred)Key Responsibilities:Plan and deliver differentiated Science lessons that engage and challenge studentsTeach general science across lower secondary and a science specialism (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) at IGCSE/A-LevelPrepare schemes of work and long-term lesson plans in alignment with curriculum standardsFoster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environmentMonitor, assess, and report on students' academic progressUse practical work, lab experiments, and digital tools to enhance understandingMaintain laboratory safety protocols and manage science lab resourcesParticipate in extra-curricular activities, science fairs, and enrichment programsEngage in parent-teacher conferences and communicate student progress effectivelyCollaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular initiativesAttend departmental and whole-school meetings, training sessions, and eventsContribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the science curriculumUphold the schools commitment to safeguarding and student well-beingKey Skills:Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and/or PhysicsPractical laboratory skills and health & safety awarenessLesson planning and curriculum development proficiencyExcellent communication and presentation skillsClassroom and behavior management expertiseConfidence in using EdTech and digital learning platformsAssessment and data analysis skillsTeamwork and collaboration with multicultural teamsCreativity and innovation in teaching methodsCultural sensitivity and adaptability in an international school setting
