Position title - Legal & Compliance Director (South & East Africa)


Work Location - Kenya OR South Africa



The SEAF Legal & Compliance Director role will cover the South & East Africa area which includes Angola, South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda.



Minimum Requirements:

LLB or LLM in Law Minimum 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in international legal departments Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to evolve in an international and challenging environment; Ability to handle several tasks with pragmatism and reactivity. Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Fluent in English and know how to negotiate and draft contracts in both languages


Responsibilities


Legal FunctionHandle all legal affairs and manage legal risks of the Region with an emphasis on the review of offers and contracts Handle corporate matters for all Bureau Veritas legal entities within the Area Provide legal support for M&A and Joint-Ventures within the Area Handle litigation matters with the support of external lawyers when required and management of insurances matters in coordination with the Group Risk and Insurance Department Assist with debt collection matters Provide expert legal guidance to operations and senior management


Compliance Function

Coordinate with group compliance teams to align compliance objectives, processes, and goals, ensuring consistent practices across the organization Support the Director of Investigations for all investigations into allegations of fraud, bribery, conflict of interest, policy violations, and other forms of misconduct that would breach BV Code of Ethics Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related matters, promoting a culture of integrity, compliance, and transparency throughout the organization Ensure compliance with laws and regulations (e.g.: privacy regulations and trade compliance (international sanctions & export control))
