One of our clients is seeking a Sales Production Planner for their Boksburg branch.

Maine Responsibilities

  • To co-ordinate, control and manage the new sub assembly, manufactured and electrical harness/panel kit sales Production planning and Job Costing.
  • To give related training and to plan production of the new sub assembly sales production line, assist in the development these areas to enhance the Business in all areas required for South Africa
  • Production Planning
  • Function as the focal point in creating a production schedule for Workshops using the best combination of Visual Manufacturing MRP System and or Excel. The production schedule's purpose is to provide a means to track and manage daily new sub assembly sales manufacturing workload, provide feedback to Internal Aftermarket Sales on in-house vs subcontracted manufacturing hours, and provide regular reporting on manufacturing status. The production schedule will provide an in-depth audit on production requirements, manufacturing capacity, schedule, and workforce size.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports performance to schedule of production activities utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
  • Coordinate with internal aftermarket sales and production to sequence manufacturing, assembly of manufactured goods.
  • Assist the manufacturing department to actively manage the new sub assembly, manufactured & electrical kits with the business production schedule.
  • Research and assign manufacturing times and due dates on parts as needed and document during the releasing process.
  • Coordinate with departments as needed to identify and resolve issues regarding budget and delivery.
  • Monitor quality, service, and delivery issues, and raise corrective actions against relevant internal departments as required through company Non-Conformance Procedures.
  • Provide continual improvement of the planning and reporting processes.
  • Participate in production meeting discussions.
  • Releasing
  • Accurately maintain and supervise of others performing the job-master database in MRP system - (SMO/SMEO).
  • Research order and delivery discrepancies and resolve MRP related issues. Take appropriate corrective actions to prevent similar issues.
  • Routine clerical duties to support department activities, equipment and supervision of others performing these duties.
  • Stay informed of current and forecasted projects, manufacturing workload, and manufacturing processes.
  • Function as the focal point to move towards a more efficient system of entering engineering releases. The goal is continual improvement of the processes being utilized.
  • Estimating
  • It is the responsibility of the Sub Assembly Sales Planner to quantify the cost of a planned production jobs and report cost findings to the Finance Cost Accountant, considering the appropriate margin and quote released by Aftermarket Sales for planned production job to end user.
  • Resource Planning
  • To develop models on which to base recommendations to Production Manager on resources required in production departments to achieve budgeted revenue, productivity, and result targets.
  • Expediting
  • Routinely communicate and supervise those performing the take of spares shortages to Procurement Department in following up on orders placed for spares as required by the production process in order to achieve planned production schedule.
  • Routinely communicate component/job shortages and deadlines to Procurement Officer and or Procurement Department to ensure timeous deliveries to workshop assembly floors.
  • Routinely communicate outsourced mine contractor component delays to Key Accounts Managers to close out with mine personnel.
  • Budget Control
  • Assist the Workshop Foremen in managing the cost of manufactured sub assembly, manufactured and electrical harness/panel kits and local modifications based on signed works orders.
  • Administration
  • Ensure signed works orders are received by Sales/Branch.
  • Jobs are opened timeously, job (SMO/SMEO) cards are issued and closed as and when required, including supervision of those carrying out such assistant tasks.
  • Supervision of others carrying out standard job admin processes in the MRP System.
  • Assistance with communicating Job Costings to the Cost Accountant, which is done to develop a proper database from which to base future quotations and is communicated accurately internally for correct quoting.
  • Utilize the company's computerized management system to record all required information.
  • Essential Requirements
  • Grade 12 and or N3 equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years planning or management within a similar manufacturing sales environment.
  • Knowledge of Visual Manufacturing or other MRP/ERP systems.
  • High level of computer literacy (Excel/Microsoft Projects/Microsoft Office)
  • Experience working within an ISO Quality Management System.
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans - verbal and written.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills are required.

  • Desired Requirements
  • Diploma and or Certificate in Project Management/Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing.
  • Certificate and or Diploma in Supply chain management
  • Proven track record.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Technical knowledge and experience.
  • Mining Industry, manufacturing process experience and knowledge.
  • BC MRP Experience.
  • Exceptionally high level of commitment to the success of individuals and overall projects.
