To manage and grow key retail customer accounts within the FMCG sector, with a primary focus on
Pick n Pay
and related retail chains. The Account Executive will ensure that all customer requirements are met, trade opportunities are maximised, and company products maintain strong visibility, availability, and profitability across the retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Relationship Building
Develop and maintain strong business relationships with buyers, category managers, and supply chain contacts at Pick n Pay and other key retail accounts.
Serve as the main point of contact for all account-related communication and problem resolution.
Negotiate trading terms, promotional activities, and pricing within company parameters.
Business Development
Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts through range expansion, promotional programs, and new product listings.
Work closely with marketing, production, and logistics teams to deliver aligned customer strategies.
Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and consumer insights to inform business plans.
Operational & System Management
Manage product listings, cost changes, and promotions through
Pick n Pay Supplier Portal / RMS / Intercheck / SAP
systems (or relevant retail platforms).
Ensure compliance with retailer operational requirements, including forecasting, on-time deliveries, and performance scorecards.
Collaborate with demand planning and warehousing teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
Sales & Reporting
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
Prepare accurate sales forecasts, performance reports, and presentations for management and customer meetings.
Conduct regular business reviews with retail partners to track performance against KPIs.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3-5 years' experience
in Account Management or Key Account Executive role within the
FMCG / Retail
environment.
Proven experience managing
Pick n Pay
or similar major retail accounts.
Strong understanding of
retail systems
such as
RMS, Intercheck, SAP, or related EDI platforms.
Tertiary qualification in
Business, Marketing, or Sales
preferred.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis.
