About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Engineer to join our Exports Division, focusing on developing and expanding sales across Sub-Saharan Africa. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in heavy manufacturing and/or the steel industry, with the technical knowledge and commercial acumen to promote engineering solutions, build strong client relationships, and drive revenue growth in emerging African markets.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute export sales strategies for heavy manufacturing and steel products within Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities with distributors, contractors, and direct clients.
  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts by providing strong technical sales support and aftersales service.
  • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution proposals tailored to client requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and business risks across multiple African regions.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and monthly/quarterly business reports for management.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, export documentation, and cross-border logistics.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Regular travel across the Sub-Saharan Africa region to build networks, strengthen relationships, and close deals.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgical Engineering or related field (preferred).
  • 5 to 10 years of technical sales experience in heavy manufacturing, steel, or related engineering sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to sell into Sub-Saharan Africa markets, with knowledge of regional business practices.
  • Strong technical understanding of heavy manufacturing and steel processes, products, and applications.
  • Proven track record in export sales, business development, and key account management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Africa.
