Salaries Controller Payroll

Position: Salaries Controller
Location: Phoenix, Durban
A well-established organisation with a dynamic FMCG Company based in Phoenix is seeking a highly experienced Salaries Controller to join their Remuneration and Benefits team. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing across various employment categories.
Key Responsibilities:

• Full end-to-end processing of payroll for permanent, fixed-term, contract, and bi-weekly employees
• Maintain employee records including linking to job management and payroll systems
• Manage statutory deductions, fringe benefits, bonuses, annual increases, and retirement fund claims
• Administer medical aid, disability processes, maternity leave, and UIF documentation
• Utilize Time and Attendance systems (e.g., Kronos) for overtime and allowances
• Distribute payslips and address payroll-related queries
• Prepare and submit payroll audit reports, third-party schedules, EMP201s, and COID reports
• Handle annual EMP501 tax submissions and IRP5s
• Maintain ESS leave system workflows
• Generate reports and reconciliations for payroll, GL accounts, and forecasting
• Support internal and external payroll audits

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric with strong accounting background (a tertiary qualification is advantageous)
• Minimum 7 years of end-to-end payroll administration experience
• Payroll qualification or completed payroll courses
• Sage People 300 experience is essential
• Kronos Time and Attendance experience advantageous
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
• Strong knowledge of payroll principles, tax legislation, and benefits administration
• Excellent attention to detail, numeracy, and communication skills
• High levels of confidentiality, integrity, and stress tolerance
