Safety Officer - Marine Projects (12-Month Contract)
Location: Simonstown Dockyard
Contract Duration: 1 Year (Mobilization: September 2025)
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret-level Security Clearance required
We are recruiting an experienced Safety Officer to join a dynamic team on a major marine contract. This role requires a proactive individual with strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, hazard identification, and compliance standards, especially in high-risk and regulated environments such as dockyards and confined spaces.
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant SHE qualification - OHS Practitioner (NQF Level 5)
- Registered with SACPCMP (CHSO) - registration preferred
- Minimum of 5 years' practical experience in a safety officer role
- Fit for Duty - valid full medical certification
- Security Clearance eligibility - Secret level
- Accredited training in the following:
- HIRA, RCAT
- Confined Space Entry
- Fall Protection Planner & Fall Rescue
- First Aid Level 2, Basic Firefighting
- Hazardous Chemical Agents (HCA)
- ISO 45001 / ISO 14001
- OHS Act, Legal Liability, COID Act
- Incident Investigation
- Computer literacy and basic office administration
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and under heat stress conditions
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- Knowledge of risk assessments and safe working procedures
- Collaborative team player with a proactive safety-first approach
