Job Description

Primary purpose of the job:

To operate and ensure the roll grinder machinery in accordance with company standards and operating parameters.

Key Performance Areas:

Adhere to safe work practice and good housekeeping (6S) Carry out the grinding of rolls for CRM and SPM and adhere to the grinding procedures within correct tolerances of dimensions. Monitor the operation of the grinding machinery. Check and ensure quality of rolls relating to surface finish, hardness, Ultrasonic Tester (UT) and the dimensions. Ensure correct balancing of grinding wheels prior to operating the roll grinder machine. Ensure good condition of the measuring instruments, UT and hardness tester. Reporting of operating parameters. Ensure SOP for roll grinding is updated and roll grinders is trained on SOP Ensure Skin pass rolls are grinded properly within tolerance and blasting quality is done properly. Ensure both roll grinding machines is in good working order and maintenance is done as required on a shutdown schedule.


Minimum academic qualification:



Matric (Maths & Science) and Relevant Technical Qualification



General work experience (years): 3-5 years in the steel industry
