We have an exciting position available for a Reward Specialist. You will be driving the implementation, coordination and monitoring of the reward strategy and job evaluation methodology, inclusive of systems and procedures, whilst providing advice to operations and wider stakeholders on reward and job evaluation matters.

Thungela Resources [Thungela means xe2x80x9cto ignitexe2x80x9d in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production. It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.



As a Rewards Specialist, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct effective research and benchmarking that supports the development, implementation and continuous improvement of a reward strategy that enables fair and equitable reward practices across Thungela
  • Manage all information and governance related to the allocation and vesting of shares, deferred cash bonuses and SEES payments on the applicable platform
  • Support the Reward Manager in managing the governance of the full end-to-end reward function as well as driving efficient reward operations and administration
  • Act as the process owner of the job evaluation methodology for Thungela
  • Provide effective reward system and process-related support to our operational entities
  • Deliver efficient reward operations and administration
  • Provide advice and consult with stakeholders related to reward policies and practices
This position is in the Shared Services department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Reward Manager.

Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Finance or other related disciplines or NQF Level 7 equivalent
  • GRP certification would be advantageous
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Human Resources with specific experience required in reward and job evaluation
Additional Information
  • Proficient knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Protection of Personal Information Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Proficient knowledge of reward-related reporting both internally and externally
  • Proficient knowledge of job evaluation methodologies and their application, with specific knowledge of the WTW Global Grading system and Patterson advantageous.
  • Proficient knowledge in applicable HRIS systems, preferably SAP.
  • Advanced knowledge of the administration of variable pay schemes, inclusive of share schemes and share ownership vehicles
