Job Description
Our client, based in KZN, is looking to appoint a dynamic and driven Retail Buyer with experience in perishable goods. This role is ideal for someone passionate about sourcing quality products and building strong supplier and store relationships.
Location: KwaZulu-Natal (KZN)
Industry: Retail (Perishables: dry goods, frozen foods, seafood, etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure perishable products across categories including dry goods, frozen foods, seafood, and more.
- Liaise with store managers and operations to understand and meet store needs.
- Negotiate, create, and close procurement deals with suppliers.
- Manage supplier relationships and ensure smooth account handling.
- Maintain product quality, competitive pricing, and stock levels.
- Ensure all purchasing complies with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Be willing to start at ground level and grow within the company.
- Proven experience as a Buyer in the retail sector, specifically with perishables.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of retail procurement processes and supplier management.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must be proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and develop with the company.
