Job Description
We are a well-established retail bakery looking for a talented and experienced Baker to join our creative team. We specialize in freshly baked goods, pastries, and custom-designed cakes, and we're looking for someone who shares our passion for craftsmanship, flavour, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and bake a range of breads, pastries, cupcakes, and specialty desserts. Design and decorate custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, and special occasions. Collaborate with customers to bring their cake concepts to life. Manage daily production schedules to ensure product freshness and availability. Maintain bakery cleanliness and adhere to food safety and hygiene standards. Monitor stock levels and assist in ingredient ordering and cost control. Support and train junior staff where necessary.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a retail bakery environment. Proven experience in custom cake design, decorating, and fondant work. Excellent knowledge of baking techniques, flavour pairings, and presentation. Creative flair with attention to detail and design aesthetics. Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required. Qualification in Baking, Pastry Arts, or Culinary Arts will be an advantage Applicants must reside in Durban or its Northern Suburbs'
