The Front of House is responsible for ensuring an exceptional guest experience from arrival to departure. This role involves managing customer service, coordinating with the kitchen and management team, overseeing the waiters, and ensuring smooth daily operations in accordance with the restaurant's standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Guest Experience
Welcome guests and professional interaction with them as required
Maintain high service standards and handle customer queries and complaints professionally.
Ensure guests receive prompt and excellent service.
Oversee table rotation and manage reservations and events when relevant.
Operations & Coordination
Supervise daily FOH operations to ensure smooth service.
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to coordinate orders and service flow.
Ensure dining area, service stations, and bathrooms are clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
Assist with stock control of FOH items (menus, cutlery, condiments, cleaning supplies, etc.).
Handle POS systems, billing, and cash-up procedures accurately.
Staff Management
Oversee waiters, runners, and cleaners.
Assist in training new staff and ensuring adherence to service protocols and health & safety standards.
Manage staff schedules, breaks, and shift changes if required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure FOH staff adhere to hygiene, health, and safety regulations (in line with South African food safety standards).

4. Minimum Requirements
Matric certificate (Grade 12).
Prior experience in a FOH or hospitality role (1 year preferred).
POS and cash-up experience.
Reliable transport and ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Basic understanding of food safety and workplace hygiene practices.
5. Advantages (Optional but Beneficial)
Experience in a supervisory/management FOH role.
Hospitality qualification or training.
Knowledge of wine, beverages, or menu items.
Familiarity with reservation systems.
