Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Coffee Shop Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a vibrant cafe satiated in the Cape Town Greenpoint area. This role requires someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and experience in managing a food and beverage establishment. The ideal candidate will ensure excellent customer service, staff development, food safety, and operational efficiency while driving sales and maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the coffee shop and kitchen, ensuring a smooth workflow and high service standards.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and manage staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and handle customer feedback professionally.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and supplier relationships to maintain stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Monitor food and beverage preparation for quality, consistency, and compliance with hygiene standards.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and food hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP).
  • Monitor financial performance including budgets, sales targets, cost controls, and reporting.
  • Create staff rosters in line with labour budget and demand forecasting.
  • Organize and oversee promotional events or seasonal campaigns to drive business.
  • Maintain cleanliness, ambiance, and functionality of the premises.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 23 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role in a cafe, restaurant, or similar food service environment.
  • Proven track record of leading a team in a high-paced hospitality setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with specialty coffee is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with food preparation, kitchen operations, or culinary background is a plus.
