The General Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation, financial performance, and team leadership of the restaurant. Working closely with the owners, the GM ensures smooth service, strong cost control, and a warm, consistent guest experience that reflects the values of a family-owned business.

Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations
Oversee all daily restaurant operations from opening to close
Be present and active on the floor during service
Ensure seamless coordination between front of house, kitchen, and bar
Maintain high standards of service, food quality, cleanliness, and atmosphere
Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed correctly
Guest Experience
Create a welcoming, personal dining experience for all guests
Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and efficiently
Build relationships with regular customers and local community
Uphold the restaurant's reputation and brand values
Team Leadership & Staffing
Lead, train, and supervise FOH and key operational staff
Assist owners with recruitment and onboarding where needed
Manage staff schedules in line with trading patterns and labour targets
Set clear expectations for conduct, appearance, and service standards
Address performance issues and maintain a respectful workplace culture
Financial & Cost Control
Manage labour costs in line with agreed targets
Oversee daily cash-ups, tills, and banking procedures
Monitor stock levels, wastage, and ordering in coordination with owners
Assist with basic reporting on sales, costs, and performance
Owner Communication & Accountability
Work closely with the owners and provide regular updates on operations
Implement owner decisions and operational changes consistently
Act as the owners' representative on-site when they are not present
Compliance & Standards
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations
Maintain cleanliness, safety, and hygiene standards at all times
Ensure staff documentation and procedures are correctly followed
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in a restaurant management or senior supervisory role
Strong hands-on leadership style
Excellent people and communication skills
Practical understanding of restaurant operations and cost control
Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes
