Job Description


With over nine decades of engineering experience in the infrastructure sector, our client excels at the ever changing challenges within their industry. They are currently looking for an Employerxe2x80x99s Agentxe2x80x99s Representatives (EAR) / Resident Engineer (RE) to join their Cape Town team for a duration of 37 months from February 2024 until April 2027.

Requirements:

  • BSc/BEng/BTech in Civil Engineering
  • Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng Registration with ECSA is a requirement
  • Pr CMP Registration with SACPCMP will be advantageous
  • Minimum 10-15 yearsxe2x80x99 relevant experience in construction and site supervision
  • Experience as the Employerxe2x80x99s Agentxe2x80x99s Representatives (EAR) / Resident Engineers (RE) on roads, bridges and civil engineering projects
  • Thorough working knowledge of Conditions of Contract (GCC 2015) is a requirement
  • Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.)
  • Experience in contractual matters, including claim evaluations
  • Experience as an Employerxe2x80x99s Agent (EA) / Contract Engineer on previous projects will be advantageous
  • Must be able to fully interpret and evaluate the impact of events on complex construction programmes
  • Relevant experience with City of Cape Town projects will be advantageous
Responsibilities:
  • Managing all contractual duties on site
  • Liaison with Engineers, Contractor & designers regarding contractual matters when necessary
  • Application of the Companyxe2x80x99s Quality Management System, with a specific focus on contractual aspects
  • Monitoring of programme and contract budgets from a contractual perspective
  • High-level management of the site laboratory.
  • Closing out the project including compiling contractual sections of completion/close-out reports xe2x80xa2 Review and monitor equipment, site staff and work methods, identify deficiency of performance before the occurrence of delays and quality issues.
  • Manage and report on all commercial matters: Contractorxe2x80x99s invoice, issue Non-Conformance Reports, Site Instructions, record and justify delays or claims, variation ordered, address non-conformance and discrepancies
  • Manage operation and staff on site.
  • Ensure strict safety and security regulations compliance, and that environmental protection measures during construction are properly carried out.
  • Effective management of supervision of the roadworks
  • Managing and compiling the as-built records, drawings and reports at he completion and close-out stages of the project
